Chapter 1: Escalation of global tensions Welcome back to the show everyone. As you can see, I'm joined by Alistair Crook, a former UK diplomat, current geopolitical analyst to go over the latest developments. So, Alistister, I wanted to ask you about this. There is a a bit of a surge, it seems like, toward war. There's the USS Theodore War Roosevelt heading to the Middle East now. a carrier
strike group carrying what the Wall Street Journal is saying 9 to 10,000 more US troops and personnel including 2,000 Marines. This comes as Donald Trump has now blamed Iran for the Fly Dubai uh incident that led to what Israel is saying was a near hijacking of that civilian aircraft. Iran has said that given all of these movements that its next move if the United States restarts the war will be to strike
a US aircraft carrier US ships in the Indian Ocean in particular where they have identified they are residing. Now the US has also sent more Patriot missile systems whatever they have left I guess to protect Saudi Arabia in Qatar. Now, uh, Alistister, it seems like war is escalating, and I'm wondering your reactions to these developments, especially since we have major elections coming up uh, both in Israel and in the United States.
Uh, and both are talking very much in the language of war and now escalating very concretely. What are your thoughts about what's going on right now? Well, I I do I have been very hesitant to say before that uh you know that war is coming and is inevitable. Um but I think now we are in a pre-war situation. Um and that um uh the likelihood is that we are going to a
much bigger war um in Iran with Iran. Um and even tensions with Russia are escalating uh very rapidly indeed. Um just um in yesterday in the last day um the Russians circulated a paper um to the European uh governments and it was saying that um Khalinenrad which is this um uh ismas that is part of Russia. It is not a sort of divorce from it. it is part of the territory of
Russia and there have been a lot of statements from coming out threats not necessarily actions um but threats saying we're going to invade Kalinrad we are going to um that NATO might attack it or surround it or or cut it off put it under siege um all of these have been more generalized um statements um but nonetheless exercises have been run um by various nations and by NATO under the NATO umbrella
as if um they are preparing to take Khalinenrad. So Russia has issued a statement for the first time very explicit in saying um if there is an attack on Khalinenrad um Russia will use all the weapons at its disposal and including nuclear weapons according to the constitution. first time we've had I think Russia saying so explicitly that if you try and take this provocation too far you risk that we will use
nuclear we will move to the nuclear level um in response to it and that has shocked Europeans for the first time the Europeans have had to sort of Chapter 2: Trump, Iran, and elections pinch themselves and say you know I mean we're heading into dangerous territory country. When you talk about Iran, you know, um it's very similar. Um what we're seeing is I mean, first of all, kicked off with um Trump
at the UN General Assembly saying, you know, after the midterms, I'm going to increase the bombing, the attacks on Iran. I've got a very difficult decision to make. I mean um you know either they have to capitulate um and come to my terms or or or I have to decide whether to annihilate Iran annihilate them very quickly and um since then I think they've been I haven't personally counted it but I
think six times Trump has repeated um in either that annihilation wording or in a synonym which means a complete destruction of uh Iran six I think he said it blow blow it we might have to blow it up I think is another way or or saying all the same I mean basically the same message you know it's coming to this point um and I think why I think that war is now
getting inevitable I is that it is clear from all these statements it must be very very clear now. Um, Trump can't do the obvious thing, which is to walk away from the Iran war. He's not going to walk away from it. He didn't he will not allow himself to be presented as a loser. He cannot go back now and accept the memorandum of understanding. It's not, of course, tech theoretically it's possible.
It's just not part of his psyche. And also because um Iran in the question of Iran, he is enthralled to another power, to another political force both in the United States and overseas that is wanting Iran destroyed and I mean completely destroyed. And so we're also seeing again like we saw in June. Uh Netanyahu um then in June was saying, "Oh, you know, Iran is moving closer and closer. We see tangible
evidence of it sort of preparing to move to a weapon state." And paradoxically, because we follow the Hebrew press and things very carefully, um this was rebuked by most of the defense and security experts in in in Israel. Um they said there is no evidence of this and they said explicitly Netanyahu is lying. there is no um evidence of a move in that direction. Well, now um elections are looming in Israel
um this month, later this month. Um and it's fraught. It's a very fraught elections. We can talk about it more if you want, but it's very fraud and it's very perilous for um Netanyahu. He's terrified that he is going to be roasted on the question on the issue of the 7th of October and what was his involvement in it. That's why he flew off to the Gulf was not so much to
prepare a a war against Iran, but was to tell um MBZ and 8 minutesbin Zed, look, do not repeat what you have said in the past that you gave a warning to me about what was going to happen in Gaza. Don't repeat that. And don't let Qata start talking out of turn about you know the relationship between Israel and Gata in in this period. And um actually the UA didn't want him
even to arrive. I mean they canled the visit and he insisted and then he came. He insisted and he arrived and then they Chapter 3: Military and nuclear threats said MBZ isn't even available. Sorry, can't see him. Uh he's not in town. Well, it turned out he was in town and Netanyahu delivered the message, but it wasn't a sort of chummy, you know, meeting to discuss tactics and the way ahead. It
was rather different. So, um, Netanyahu has begun saying again in the leadup to this election, fresh evidence is available to Israel that Iran is moving towards weaponization. And of course, this is being stove pip piped directly into the United States. He's actually going to say and has said, I think on CBS, look, Iran is preparing the missiles and he's going to fire they are going to find nuclear uh weapons into American
cities. I mean, he's ratcheting up the fear to to, you know, level 11. I mean on on this issue for the American electorate and Trump goes back to the same thing saying it every day virtually. Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. If they had a nuclear weapon, um America wouldn't be here. Israel wouldn't be here. The Gulf would be disappeared. They cannot have
a nuclear weapon. So it looks as if we are are are moving to a very dangerous stage of this um uh because uh how might this happen? Is it possible that um nuclear weapons would be used against Iran which is one way of interpreting you know a very quick annihilation of a country 91 95 million people. Um is this possible? I mean there would be push back in the United States. I
mean from grassroots and even from the Pentagon um would be there would be if you like push back I think because they would say it is a war crime and I mean not everyone in the Pentagon would push back but there are those at various levels that would push back against this and you will know who some of those are. Um but of course what is possible um and which would be
conceivable if you like to move Trump to the next stage would be if Israel sought to use a nuclear weapon against in this period. Um and um Israel does have a number of submarines diesel submarines that were given to it. um by Germany and they are capable of firing Tomah Hawk missiles with they are nuclear capable um uh missile systems on board Tom Hawk missile systems now that is possible I mean
I have no evidence that that's happening I am sure but have no direct evidence but I am still certain that um Israel and others are going to be watching very carefully to see if such missiles or such devices are being loaded on um Israeli submarines. And the other thing of course is that if they are loaded and they want prepared to fire them, those submarines have to surface. They can't fire them.
It's not like other other um if you like submersible systems. they have to surface to fire these Tomahawk missiles. So, it's possible, just possible, it's not certain by any means that um Iran and its allies would be able to identify it as soon as it starts surfacing uh and take it out before it um is able to fire the missiles. But still, a threshold is passed. it's something that is very significant
uh in in in the way ahead. So that is one aspect of it. The other aspect is what even let us put nuclear uh weapons aside. Leave them uh uh uh for the moment. Chapter 4: Logistics and energy crisis What is it that United States can do now to bring about the complete defeat in the victory of the United States in Iran? And the answer is that it's very hard to see
what would be the possibilities uh for Trump to get that sort of win. Now, I mean, we've had, you know, heavy bombing. Now, the United States has far less of those. Um, it doesn't have standoff. It doesn't have so many standoff missiles to fire that it had uh before. It doesn't have the same level of air defenses. Um, so what what what what could he do to bring about a victory, a
very pronounced, clear victory that would win back the applause of even the Republicans for this wonderful military operation. I'm not sure though even if the Republicans would applaud even if it was, you know, a a a major military victory because, you know, they can understand um that the consequences in the Gulf and the consequences of the supply of oil uh are going to be profound whether it is a great victory or
whether it is a half victory or no victory. And what you have also to consider and it's possible is that actually Iran could win such a clash. It might win such a clash. So you've already suggested an attack on a aircraft carrier. I'm I'm I'm not sure if that's rhetoric or if Iran is thinking of that as a deterrent uh statement of deterrence to the United States because there are 5,000 sailors
on board a carrier. It would be even if you know the soon if they fired it in such a way and it started to sink and then the ancillary vessels and the Iranians themselves were going to help pick up those sailors from the sea, it would be a a a big event. So, I'm not sure, but I mean, I think that the what I feel pretty confident in is that the Iranians
are not going to sit back, allow um America to get to peak readiness, that it's going to just sort of sit there and take whatever it is Trump has to throw at them. No, they're not in that sort of mood at all. So now the rhetoric has has switched in America. So first of all we have this rhetoric that you know there are so many so many vessels passing through that there's
more fuel passing through HOS and even before the war and a billion barrels worth of oil were coming out in two weeks last week. Uh I think I would advise people to discount all that as nonsense. It's not true. It's just simply not true. It's it it's said to be dependent on satellite images, but those sort of satellite images are carefully controlled and and released only to 17 minutespeople that perhaps, you
know, are ready to pursue the right narrative. I don't want to suggest anything beyond the fact that um we see evidence and you've seen presumably that you know tankers are getting attacked. There's no doubt about it. They're on fire. You can see it. So, you know, what do you believe the narrative or what's in front of your eyes? I think I advise you to believe your eyes rather than these uh these
narratives. Um, and so the narratives is is sort of to jin up support before the midterm, saying, "Look, it's all going to be all right, and there's going to be plenty of diesel around and the price will come falling down." It's not going to be like that. The diesel shortage is going to be real and is hitting. It's here. The price of diesel in America, you know what it's at, well over
$6. in in Europe it is, you know, going through the roof. The point is not just the price. It's if if it's available because, you know, it's got to be the feed stock have got to go to the right refinery. There's got to be a tanker that takes it there. you know, it's not just a simple, oh well, it's open then, you know, the price is going to fall because, you know,
in in in in in France, there have been violence because of the shutting down of um uh uh gas stations in in France because of shortages of diesel. And uh Britain has been warned that it may have to go on to rationing and be subject to a 50 mph speed limit. I mean it's here it so I mean it you know all of this is is hype and I think we shouldn't
be def deflected by this you know talk of it because the real issue is the war escalation and it's quite clear that Trump doesn't have any ready answers to his need to score a sort of you know all dancing singing victory that he can go out and claim and say, "Look what I've done. It's wonderful. I've stopped Iran. They'll never get a nuclear weapon." Even though his own people and the Israelis
say there's no evidence that they have one, but this is uh so it is a it is becoming a a very dangerous situation. And so he's ping pinning his hopes now on on what you know I mean the advisers are incredible. I mean you've got first of all you know rat what's he called the rat ratcliffe that's it the ratcliffe on the one hand and then you've got um you bent and
the bent is saying two weeks and you know they will capitulate and know it's the same thing they just do not know understand or can really have any feel for for Iran and The Iranian people actually they think that the people are going to come out in the streets to overthrow the government. They don't understand the opposite is happening. People are coming out in the streets yet. But it is to support
the Chapter 5: Public response in Iran government and to support the policy of a tough response to the United States. Look what's happening in Iraq. Great shares going up. There are um demonstrations because the Americans are leaving their bases and going. They left on the 30th of September. And across Iraq, there are big big um if you like demonstrations of celebration and four days of holiday have been declared. I mean, you
know, they can't get it more wrong. Yes, there was criticism in in in Iran before this war started, but basically the criticism arose because a government that time wanted to reform the economic system by going um can I call it by shortand neoliberal, you know, abolishing subsidies, raising prices and going to a full market econom. economy. Well, that's you know, it's very difficult to do that in in the short run to
suddenly shift from what was an controlled economy to a market economy. Surely some reforms might have had some merits, but you know, you're going to get a lot of pain from that. So, there was, you know, anxiety about that, but that's all gone. I mean, changed. It's hard now for Iranians. Of course, it's hard, but um they are getting food in. Agricultural output increased um during the war by 13 to 14%.
Um it hasn't stopped as Bessen tries to suggest. Of course, they're getting revenues in they're selling oil. They have some oil on sea, so they're getting revenues. um it they I can't pretend it's all you know just so easy but the support for the government and the support for their policy of uh challenging America is growing. It's not it's not turning into a sort of um popular pitchfork attack on the government.
Quite the opposite. Look at you don't have to believe me. Look at all the videos every night in in in Tehran. People are out demonstrating in 23 minutessupport of the government, particularly the young. Very much led by the young. This generation of young Iranians is tough. And um it's it's it's not like it. So that's going to be a big failure. It's it's not going to um the the the Iran will
outlast the United States if it tries as I mean you know if they look at it if you're you know the Iranian um command and you look at it I mean you must have a sort of ry look on your face and they say it you know excuse me is it Iran that's going to collapse or I thought it was your markets that are collapsing. I mean you know what about the
bond market and what about the increase in interest rates and you know I mean the stock markets is all based on about five or seven shares that you know if if there's any hiccup in any of those the whole market might collapse who's who's in an economic crisis is it us the Iranians or is it the United States so I don't think this is going to I don't think it's going to
work that way. Yeah. No, great points, Alistister. And you know, originally when I heard that a third aircraft carrier was heading to the Middle East, heading to the Sentcom area of operations as it's called, uh the the initial report said, "Oh, well, it's going to go replace the USS George Washington." Now, uh they're not talking about it like this. And uh I I'm curious Alistister if you could you know comment on
whether you believe that Iran is kind of holding certain cards here that it has not yet played. You know, the New York Times reported today that five tankers in the last two days have been hit in the Straight of Hormuz, and they like to say something to the effect of, "Well, they fired a lot more missiles and drones at ships and they missed a lot of those targets," they claim. But nevertheless,
this is where Iran has been focusing on. And uh uh many have wondered if Iran is actually you know you said they're not going to wait for the US to get prepared but are they holding on to certain cards that they have not yet played which uh maybe the United States is not considering or maybe the Trump administration simply is willing to take these risks. What do you make of this? because
you said yourself the options for the US uh in terms of using these forces are they're not they're not necessarily favorable or as favorable maybe as uh it's being promoted. Well, absolutely they have lots more cards to play and don't forget all through this period they've been restocking their missiles. In fact, I Chapter 6: Military capabilities at play believe they have more um if you like in their inventory, missile inventory than
when the war started. And some of these are new missiles and they have new air defenses. And you know, the the Iranians are very careful. They don't just sort of show everything all at once. um they use atypical type of weapon when it can produce a particular result and when that result is something that they need at that time. So they don't just willy-nilly say this is all I've got. Here we
are. This is what we we've got. Now the on the aircraft carrier, you know, I'm I'm not sure what I believe has happened is that um Iran actually fired um a a ballistic missile over the uh over an American uh carrier at hypersonic speed. And this was pretty shocking to the people. It didn't it wasn't intended to hit it. It was shot over it, but it was a pretty clear message. And
the the shock wave from it being hypersonic. Um, you know, I think damaged number of people from just the the air pressure and the uh the effect of the sound. So I mean and what was been the consequence is that the aircraft carriers have had to move out uh further away from Iran to about 1,000 kilometers. I think that means that operationally those carriers are much less effective than they might have
been because what that means is I understand it. You have to check this with a military expert. But what I understand is that means that most of the aircraft on the deck of those carriers would not be able to reach Iran um strike a target and return. they would need refueling on the way there and refueling on the way back making them quite vulnerable at that point because uh F-35s and others
whatever they have on the deck um their range is very short. So they would have to have refueling aircraft in the air that could come up and um and support it. And they would be very very very interesting targets for the Iranians, those refueling aircraft and especially when they return to base because they'll be standing out in the open. And nearly all the refueling aircraft have now been pushed out of the
Gulf States um where they were. And many of them are sitting in Benorian out in the airport, the Benorian airport out in the open and also Nevatim airport in the in the desert. Um and there are a lot of them there because you know they've taken them now. they've removed them from Jordan and as well as the the basis along the the the the Hormos shore. So, um you know, and all
of those means it's much more complicated because most of those will need refueling perhaps even going and coming back again. So, a lot of refueling, a lot of fuel, a lot of logistics to make anything work. So I think moving the the carriers a thousand kilometers you know puts them almost at the very very limit of their uh operational range. So I think that might be one element. I don't know what
the Iranians have in mind, but I think they are planning um uh a serious escalation and I don't think necessarily I have no inside information, but I don't think they are going to wait for Trump to get all his ducks lined up uh and sent out towards towards Iran. Whatever that might be, conventional or whatever, they're ready for it. They expect it. they are entirely mobilized for this war. And there's another
thing that people just miss. Quite important. Um uh a little while ago, I think 3 weeks maybe, Iran announced it is mobilizing, um a million men. Uh they said a thousand battalions of a thousand people each. And apparently people have been surging to to to join these what they call self-sacrifice battalions. Again, you know, didn't doesn't sound to me like a state that's about to rise up and overthrow government, but apparently
that they're comp they're something like 31 minutes31 million people have expressed an interest. Why does Iran need a 1 million man army? Look, it's not for what you what you put on the title here. 2,000 Marines are heading towards um the Middle East. I mean, where would they land? What what will be the, you know, the the the base that would go there? How would they be supplied? You you name it.
I don't think the Iranians are worried even if it's 10,000 uh base because Iran is a very inhospitable terrain to fight on. So a million a million army. So what's coming? What's next? Who knows? But I don't think I mean it's been a huge logistic exercise and the fact that the government is able to organize a million people the training has started they're all trained many of them have served in the
army of course they're all being trained you know you have to ask is it just to sort of you know defend the the the ground space from a an American landing uh on the other side of the foremost I doubt it. You know, Alistair, often times when uh news of US escalation comes out, uh the initial reaction can be to look at it within a vacuum. But even as you were talking,
one thing that came up in my mind was even if the United States wanted to, and I've heard some military experts say, well, if there's three aircraft carriers together, working together on an operation, then they could maybe sustain a kind of 24-hour strike capacity, standoff strike capacity. But that I think belies the fact though that there's also with these aircraft carriers, uh, huge logistical problems. they would have to go all the
way to Diego Garcia to sustain long-term operations. Which is why I believe some thought that actually the USS Washington was just going to get relieved because uh it's too difficult for these aircraft carriers to stand out in the middle of the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean area for long periods of time uh like we saw with the Lincoln. So, uh, what are your thoughts on this that the actual context is is very
unfavorable it seems like for this? Oh, it just seems to me to be I mean 24-hour Blitz Creek from three carriers. How many refueling aircraft would you need in the air for that? You'd probably need two or three per aircraft across three carriers. I mean, are there enough fueling aircraft um in the total inventory of the United States for that sort of exercise? I just think this is a little bit exaggerated.
I think the I mean the carriers have not been effective and not participated really in this except marginally. Now they've moved from 500 to a,000 kilometers away. they become less effective. And I'm quite sure that if they try and do use them like you've described, they will discover that the Iranians have um shorter ship missiles quite capable of striking a thousand kilometers away and will not necessarily sink it, but will cause
damage. I mean, after all, you know, a carrier is is I mean, everyone says, well, you know, it's very hard to sink a carrier. You don't have to sink it. Just put a bomb through the deck and then what what does it do? You know, no one can fly. So, I mean, I I don't I I think, you know, this is a narrative that's being hyped up. Um, like all these narratives
about, you know, the siege in Iran and Iran is about to sort of declare complete abject poverty and everyone going to rise up and attack the government. All these things suggest narratives that are there, I'm afraid, to gaslight the American and European public. um and to suggest it's going to be fine when in fact um the economic realities are going to come home very hard in this next period um to both
to Europeans Europeans perhaps more than Americans but it's going to come come home even if they put a a a a lock on this export of diesel it's still the price isn't going to come down because as I said it's structural It's structural. It's also about shipping. There is there aren't ships and there are not many owners of ships who want to risk them for doing things where they might get attacked.
So it's structural and also you know there is not I mean what what if you like heavy oil there is because for diesel you need heavy sulfur laden oil. what oil there is is not necessarily, you know, in the right place with the right refinery for that type of oil to make it into diesel or kerosene. So, I mean, this is a real structural mess up and it's not going to sort
itself out quickly at all. And uh Alistister, your thoughts on, you know, the very strange events over the last week or so. There was the RAF uh incident of the five men who were arrested for supposed uh they say terror attack even though that base is an active war use but they say a terror attack on the base was like about to happen. It was caught then they were released on bail
and then we had the fly Dubai incident which both have sparked I was just at a gathering yesterday and people were asking me Danny is what what what actually is happening here? Why are all these events going on? They seem very suspect. Now you have Trump uh saying that Iran could be behind both of them. Even Netanyahu hasn't gone so far with regard to the Fly Dubai incident who say Iran definitely
was behind that. Trump is indicating this. What is it about these events? Why are they happening now? We have the Israeli election coming in 25 days or so, right? Or maybe a little less than that. And uh the midterm elections too. Israel's already promised that they are under siege, under attack, or at least their intelligence have uh indicated this. What's what's going on here? And do you foresee more strange events like
this coming to uh for whatever purposes they're supposed to be about? I'm wondering your thoughts on it. Sure. It's preparation for war. This these are the false flags coming that are inevitable to scare the public and Chapter 7: Narratives and false flags say to everyone, "Oh, look, you know, it's so scary." And the Iranians are doing everything. And if it's not the Iranians, it's Putin doing this. And Putin is sending drones
over European cities. You should see the press in Europe now. I mean, it's just on full scare about, you know, that the Russians are coming. We're going to war with Russia. You know, you have to start preparing. You know, it's going to be your duty to send your children to war. Many are going to die, but that's your duty. I mean, they're literally saying this all the time and there's a concerted
and they had all the European technocrats at a meeting just recently. I sent a photograph of it. I mean, all they dressed up in military jackets and uniform, you know, camouflage uniform. I mean, they looked ridiculous, these sort of middle-aged politicians parading around in military uniform. But that is the point. They want to frighten everyone to show that war is coming. Um and so with Fairford uh I mean it became a
farce because you know what had happened was some man and his wife driving back late at night um really very late at night. So I don't know where they'd been or what after 12 at night and 1:00 in the morning coming back and then they saw three vans which are actually somehow blocking their access to their farm. So they called first of all the Ministry of Defense because they live near Fairfford.
Oh, you know what is this? And then they claimed to see, you know, sui five swave um Middle Eastern looking men disappearing into a wood. And so when it came to them, I mean there were photographs of the five that were apprehended by the police. And first of all, they didn't look the slightest bit swathy. They look rather white and they looked rather um rather British and they are all British. Um
uh uh uh they're all British citizens and um it seems that what they were involved with there were no explosives. There were nothing found no explosives. Um uh it seems like it was some sort of scam about fuel. Um that they were sort of smuggling gasoline, whatever it is. Um and um yes they may have you know done something you know traded in gasoline in an improper way but there was no
evidence of an attack on fair foot but of course you know Trump having dropped the sub the the the message you know there must be an Iranian behind it so duly the British prime minister says oh oh well we've had to release all those people because there was no explosives. There was nothing to hold them. So, they've all been released. And Trump said, "You shouldn't have done that. You all need to
think if there's something because the CIA have been following this operation for months and weeks, which was obviously not true." And so um then sort of desperate to keep Trump happy. He's they've announced that they've arrested a a a joint Iranian British subject somewhere in London and are going to charge him with some sort of offense under um the terrorist preparation act. seems completely it's just just all if you like narratives
to support you know Iran Iran Russia Russia that's what it is I don't know what happened on board that airplane I haven't got any sort of sort of more facts than you probably have um but I mean it's sort of morphed and you know there seems to have been some sort of argument between the pilot and co-pilot it seems like to be more a sort of mental health incident than than necessarily
um uh a a a an attack. But it doesn't matter because what it's done is it's whatever actually happened, whatever it's done, it's given Netanyahu exactly the line that he wanted. This was Israel's 911. They wanted to crash the plane with Israelis on board it. and one of them had been indoctrinated with Islamism, one of the pilots. It gave him the perfect line for the elections. Um, so, you know, really, I
mean, you know, there's no point sort of trying to work out exactly the truth and the not truth because, you know, for for for Netanyahu and for for for Trump, the narrative is everything. And if you can say listen I mean this was a 911 I mean everyone must come and support me everyone in the world have got to come and say poor Israel 911 they were going to be all killed
now I don't know the exact facts but I don't think that really matters you know the narrative has been set now you know whatever the truth whatever exactly happened the narrative is all about the election in Israel and Netanyahu's desperation um uh to be seen to be like Trump, you know, tough and strong and not tolerating tolerating any enemies of Israel. Well, Vladimir Putin spoke at the uh Valdai conference as you
know Alistair and I want to play this remark he gave about Iran. I thought it was very Chapter 8: Russia's firm stance precient uh to say the least. And then you know you're f maybe we could further elaborate then on the comments you made earlier about this uh kinenrad situation because it seems like Russia's response to that really did spook NATO. Here is what Putin said about Iran. Of course the whole
world is focused on what's happening and is amazed by the courage and terrorism of Iranian nation and its resilience and about a deep number of substitutes in terms of government team and so uh he says the world is impressed with Iran's resilience Alistister uh but this comes as you said Kalinrad is being threatened or at least there were who found that out. By the way, I saw all kinds of reports about
embassies, various Russian embassies sending out notices all across Europe, uh, saying that they had they had been tipped off about this threat to Kinenrad and then Russia made their very strong nuclear response. Your thoughts about these two things? No, the the the threats against Kinenrad, I mean, not necessarily all of them very serious, you know, but mounting exercises as if, you know, the NATO was about to invade it and so on.
I mean, that's been happening for some time. Um and but what is significant is Russia sent out a written statement to all European nations to their governments saying if Kellinenrad is attacked we reserve the right to use any weapon that is appropriate at our discretion and that includes nuclear and that's what has sl somewhat spooked them. I think the message from what you just played is a very important one. I mean
what Putin was saying we are like this with Iran. I mean it was clear. He said he couldn't have been more clear. You know we support the brave resilient people of Iran. We are like with that with them. And I think China is also not in the same way but is also with Iran which again you know one wonders if these wars are going to sort of somehow morph into each other
because um of what the um Europe is is doing with assembling and providing Ukraine with these missiles and drones to fire into the civilian ian areas and against refineries. Um, and you know, I think the breaking point came and there's a huge shift that's taken place in Russian policy. It just needs to be listened to. He first of all, Lavrov at the UN General Assembly said something really important. He said, listen,
we are not 47 minutesprepared to enter into a ceasefire under any format. The negotiations will have to go on while there's far under far no format. We are not prepared to consider any format for ceasefire um with uh Ukraine. So do you hear that Washington? Do you get it? And then afterwards uh Putin I think uh uh two days later and said even if there were discussions with the United States even
if there were you know some sort of proposal to discuss we would think twice before agree to go to those discussions. big change big change in in posture by Russia much tougher and you see the evidence of this every night in in the progressive destruction of logistics of um uh gas stations of uh railway systems of energy supply systems um I mean it's quite different from a couple of months ago and
certainly as you I was in Russia recently. I would say the the the anger at the Europeans is really deep. I mean you know even from people who um we had dinner with Lavro who's very controlled but you know he is really I mean I don't he didn't you know he's a very he's a consumer diplomat but everywhere the you know the for the for Russia the Europeans just are beyond the
pale and um they don't want to have anything really to do with them although at some point that must happen. Um but also it was quite clear you know that um Russia believes that there was an agreement at Anchorage and the Americans were unable to complete it and uh fulfill it. And so there's a great mistrust in in in in that position. But also you have to remember you know what Mertz
said in this time and he talked about Germany building the biggest army in Europe. And then he added the words again for for Russians. Wow. You know Len you know Stalingrad what is you know that Germany wants to build that army again as M said you can check the wording that's what he said we want to build the biggest army in Europe yet again so I mean I think there is a
different a different uh take and then we read stories um that have come out which again I mean a bizarre and we wonder what you know what's happening you know I don't know that I you know they've been printed and published and no one has retracted it and there have been um Europeans who said that they've received similar reports from America that uh when uh Reckliff flew to Moscow apparently he did
go with a message according to Kon Cotlin of the uh Daily Telegraph and supported by others. Um, and he does have good contacts at that in that realm. Um, and that he he came to tell the Russians, a there you're losing the war with Ukraine. You're losing it. You're failing. And secondly, your economy is collapsing and you're going to collapse like the Soviet Union did in 91. and you are going to
collapse economically. When they gathered that this was the message, he was turned around and sent home. I mean, it was so ridiculous. So ridiculous. But this is the sort of messaging that is probably being, you know, this is what's being said to Trump. You know, little bit more pressure, little bit more pressure and the Russian economy is going to collapse. And you know there are sort of cues for petrol and things
like this. Look um uh Danny I in these last month we've driven much of the area of Siberia. We started near the Mongolian border and China and drove most of that way across Siberia far out from the sort of cities and there were no cues at the petrol stations gas stations. I promise you because we were in cars that we had to refuel and then the only place where we saw Q
was by Novos and that seems to have been a local problem because as soon as you got away from Novo Basque there were no cues and so um you know all of this is is just nonsense that is is talking the economy of of Russia it's growing slowly because they've wanted to sort of tamp it down. It was growing too fast and they worried about inflation taking off. But prosperity is everywhere.
People are working. I mean, the city is I mean, a model of um a well-run city, Moscow and Petersburg, too. I mean, highly impressive. Shops full of food, people are enjoying them, restaurants full. I mean, the idea that the economy is collapsing, what do these people smoke? What do they read? I don't understand. Um, you know, it's the same thing like, you know, oh, a billion barrels of oil are passing through
horos. Yes. And Russia is, I've come to tell you, Putin, because I'm CIA and I know these things, I've come to tell you your economy is collapsing and you'll beounded out. What do they really think? That is that the state of things in the west? Apparently, it must be. Chapter 9: The future of Europe Yeah, a very very important analysis, Alistister. Now, you know, when it comes maybe in terms of final
comments, uh, you know, it seems like, and I want to play this also from our our friend, uh, mutual friend Pepe Escobar shared another comment on the Valde conference. I think a lot of, especially both with Iran and Russia, there's a lot of criticism sometimes of them, even from people who watch our programs about the restraint that they use. But here is uh something Vladimir Putin said at the Valdai conference that
I thought was uh very very intelligent to say the least. He was asked maybe it's time to break the EU apart. Here is how he responded. No need to do that. They will break apart themselves essentially is what he said. I'll I'll put that on the X. No need. They will fall apart on their own. So, uh, Alistister, how how do you these comments? I mean, they were said in part in
justest, but I think they do reflect an overall uh posture. Not inest. He's really on the nail. He's saying, I mean, you know, you may object to the fact that he's saying it, but he's saying what many people in Europe also think that the um Europeans are being turned into proxies. Um, a resource base for the United States to keep the pressure on Russia, to keep the war going. um because the
United States is losing its ability to to you know to control um events as they used to. Their financialized system is shaky but also you know the states that used to be visited by the IMF um um you know people who would go to sort of give debt and take debt and to take assets. Now even African states have got you know alternatives. they turn to China. They turn to other other
states for for credit and debt. And so I mean the the the the whole superructure, the western elites are in a very precarious states. All their control mechanisms are collapsing together. Military and everything. What they have left is their control of the financial levers. the control of their financial system and and that is all and Europe is going to stand I mean because you know America succeeded in making Europe totally dependent
on America for its energy supplies. The business model of Europe has been broken. they are now dependent uh and they are being used to sort of um jack up a sort of proxy war uh against Russia by all the scaremongering Russia war, Russia war. They are paring this because they desperate to be able to survive and to succeed and they're frightened that people are going to rise up against them. And so
um he's right. You know, Ukraine was the one sort of flag around which the whole European Union revolved. Zalinski was at every committee meeting, every event being hugged and praised and everything. And um if the Ukraine um if this Ukraine project uh fails, there's nothing to keep Europe together. nothing. What is it? Green projects? No, that's already failed. You know what they're facing is unemployment, huge cost of living rise, problems of
immigration, serious problems. They're going to 58 minutesthey're going to break out across Europe. And no, Europe doesn't have a sort of common position. it. I mean, I I was lent to the European Union to see if it was possible to have a common foreign policy, foreign and security policy by the British Prime Minister. I was lent to heavy Salana when he was high representative to try and do this. And then there
were only 12 member states and my conclusion was it's just not possible. I mean, it's like hurting cats. You cannot get a common policy. And now how many are there in the European Union? 47 49 or or whatever. And of course America deliberately brought in after after what happened in Iraq after France said no we will not join in the war on Iraq and yes we are going to disassociate ourselves from
NATO. So what was the answer? is will bypass old Europe by empowering new Europe, Eastern Europe, the Baltic states, the Poland and all of the those that be were part of the Warsaw pact and have got a strong grudge against Russia. And I remember at the time Salana said to me, you know, this is going to destroy Europe. It it will probably destroy it. This um the Americans are insisting. He was
an ex- secretary general of NATO and um so you know he knew the dynamics and under the treaty of Rome Europe is obliged to follow the security instructions of NATO i.e. the United States. And so against his will, enlargement was going to take place till it becomes an inch gathering of nation states that are trying to preserve something of their own sovereignty against a sort of um regulatory mo of Brussels. So
I I think what Putin said was not an if you like was not an aggressive comment or not a snide comment at Europe. Uh I would have to say that many many people in Europe would say, you know, that's exactly right. It he doesn't have to do anything. Europe will is in the process of fragmenting itself and NATO. Alistar, we've come up on the hour. And I think that's a great place
uh to conclude here. I want to make sure everybody knows that conflicts form Substack uh which you uh put together is in the video description below. So everyone should support and follow uh the work that you do there. Um everyone hit the like button before you go. I want to thank thank all the moderators and the viewers today. Thanks for this gifted membership. Richard, without further ado, uh I will be back
again tomorrow. I'll let you know who that is uh later on. But uh Alistister, thanks so much again and we'll end stream together. Okay. Thank you. All right. Hit the like button everybody and I'll see you again tomorrow. Bye-bye.

The REAL Reason USA Freaks-Out Over Iran | S. M. Marandi
Neutrality Studies
Oct 3, 2026 Interviews
The USA is preparing the next phase of the Irna War. But it won't help. The defense of the country has only increased over the past 8 months and now the USA is running out of time and options in a disaster of their own making.
Professor Mohammad Marandi warns that renewed war against Iran is highly likely, though not inevitable. Speaking with Pascal after visiting Russia, he discusses sanctions, medical supplies, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s preparations for escalation. Marandi argues that attacks on Iranian infrastructure could trigger devastating retaliation across the Gulf and a global economic crisis. They also examine American military limitations, Yemen and Iraq, China’s exposure to an energy shock, Israeli politics, and the importance of understanding Iran.

Chapter 1: Marandi’s warning and impressions from Russia Welcome back everybody to Neutrality Studies. Today for an update with Professor Mohammad Zed Mandi Zed, welcome back to the channel. Thank you very much for inviting me. It's always a great pleasure being with you. It's great having you here. And actually, you just returned from uh Russia. Before we go into the Iran topic, can you give us a little bit of your
impressions about uh Valdi? How was that? And you actually talked to the Russian president, didn't you? Yes, briefly. I uh I did um ask a question but along with the question I did make a couple of statements uh as well uh and u he gave a four or five minute response um it was a very interesting conference the Valdai uh club is um is very well known it's I think uh the
most important international conference that they have every year uh they have a a a na an 1 minuteinternational conference, but they also have regional conferences throughout the year. Um in my meetings with uh other guests Russian and non-Russian from across the world uh it was very clear that they were all sympathetic and supportive of Iran collectively and individually but also um from my conversations it was clear that the people in the
different countries that they came from were also siding with Iran and uh for the first time in over 47 years uh the uh the anti-Iranian narrative that Western media and think tanks and governments have been able to create with the help of of course these regional regimes that are in the US camp and their their their media which is funded by oil and gas wealth. um that has collapsed and people are
seeing through uh the propaganda and uh they stand with Iran and in fact I was um discussing with people uh the um the fact that the United States is targeting uh ordinary Iranians by uh strengthening the sanctions and Um, for example, as I was telling you before the program, uh, the the Americans are trying to prevent planes from flying to and from Iran. And it's not to hurt the economy because the
Iranian imports and exports go by land. What is uh, and tourists and pilgrims, they usually take money away from Iran. they take money to spend abroad. Uh the there because there are more Iranian tourists who go abroad than who come to Iran, especially in these circumstances. The real target is the um medical uh situation in Iran. They want to create a medical crisis because medicine, a lot of medicine comes into Iran
through flights because you can't ship them. You can't, you know, they can't uh they can't go by truck for for uh weeks uh to get to the country. They have to be sent swiftly. They have to be kept in certain conditions. They have uh the the dates in which they expire. Uh or it the the amount of time that you can use them is limited and in some conditions you have to
use them very quickly. In some cases, there's a shortage of medicine. They swiftly bring in medicine from abroad to So what the Americans are trying to do is create this crisis in Iran. And when I explained this, no one was shocked. No one was surprised. Uh big they're all expecting this. It's as if for everyone 4 minutesit's clear that the United States is the regime, the Trump regime is just utterly sinister
and totally evil. and the fact that Western media will not call out the regime, the fact that Trump can call for the annihilation of the Iranian people o time and time again and there's no outrage in the West, there's no outrage and I mean the public obviously is anti-war, the anti- genocide, we've seen the polls uh but um but the fact that journalists, Western media from the independent in the UK or
the Guardian in the UK to Breitbart in Fi Fox News in the United States. They're all silent and all they all look away as these threats to carry out a holocaust, the most horrific holocaust in human history against the Iranian people, you know, amidst all these threats, you have silence. But again, no one was surprised. It was it was as if everyone uh in at the conference and this is a a
major conference and the people there are except for me uh are are intellectuals and public figures and people of great knowledge and influence. No one was at all shocked or surprised or uh it's as if there's a global consensus that the United States is indeed as uh uh the first leader of the of the revolution in Iran Ayatahi said that the America is a great Satan that's that's the consensus now but
ultimately ultimately uh people have across you know among All the the different groups of people who I met in Moscow, they all were confident that Iran will win this war and uh uh I share that confidence. Chapter 2: Sanctions, civilian suffering and Europe’s role I mean we are talking about the people who are literally bragging. They were bragging in January about the fact that they managed to create the economic upheaval that
then led to mass protest which then according to their own narrative would have led to 10,000 dead people. I mean apart from the fact that those numbers are insane, but that they are proud of the fact that they created the conditions in which this then happened and then they get to to swing themselves on the high horse and and point the finger at oh my god you evil people you did what
we forced you to do like despite like apart from the fact that that never happened but but that's the level of of um well just satanic actually behavior as you said it and now these uh the interrupting the flights which as you said like it's not as if though Iran was a huge tourist destination before um as if though that would would make any kind of change to the government uh positions
but obviously it's going to kill a couple of hundred if not thousand more people a month who are already on dial dialysis or on on cancer medication and so on and all that not coming in is going to kill again the poorest of the poor and those who are already in vulnerable situations And that's what the entire collective west is proud of. And just that's the only thing I would correct. It's
not just the Americans, it's the Europeans too who do that. And then and then you've probably heard Margut about uh five six days ago um bragging that you know in 10 years it's going to be the Europeans going to be able to do that to Iran. It shouldn't be the Americans who have to do this. We have to take care of our own doorsteps. I mean, these people are insane and I'm
sorry I shouldn't talk like that, but but it's it's it's make it's outrageous to me as well that this is the discourse coming and I can only imagine how that hits you at home in Iran. Do you have though any kind of um you know reply or response to this kind of utter like European nonsense from somebody as low low light and low life as Marg saying something like that. Hey, just
a very quick note. The best way to support this channel is by signing up for my free Substack. You can also help with a paid subscription there. Or you can get some of our new merch on neutralitystudies.com. Links below. See you there. Well, he is obviously going to mimic daddy and uh so we don't uh expect anything different from him. But uh again when he says this sort of thing uh which
is basically saying that we too should violate international law, we should destroy civilian targets. I mean they know very quite they know very well that the Iranian nuclear program is peaceful. They know that the international atomic energy agency which has carried out intrusive specs in Iran for years that they've been in all of those buildings many many times. and they know uh that there's no deviation from the uh civilian program. Yet
they endorse the bombing of it because of their hatred for Iran and because they support the Israeli regime. They support the genocide in Gaza. It's clear as day what this is all about. I mean I in that question that I asked President Putin, I said that the same people who support the genocide in Gaza and who want to exterminate the Palestinians now they want to exterminate the people who oppose the extermination
of the Palestinian people too. And that's how outrageous it has begun of become. Of course, keeping in mind the fact that the majority of people across the United States, and I haven't seen polls in in Europe, but um I would assume it's the same, the the strong majority opposed war, the strong majority opposed the genocide in Gaza. That so we're basically speaking about these elites who are living in their bubble, but
that bubble is about to burst. They are pushing our region towards a situation where there will be global economic meltdown. And then at the same time they're pushing the war in Ukraine towards a a critical point because especially after they encouraged Zalinski to start targeting Russian uh infrastructure, civilian infrastructure. The Russians have begun hitting back very hard. And we know that the Russians have uh much more power and much more military
capability than does Zalinski. So the situation in Ukraine is getting worse and the and the Europeans are emptying their pockets to to have this war continue. I personally don't think that the European Union will last for how long was it? Did he say 10 years? I don't I don't think it's going to last that long. I really don't believe that this is sustainable. I think that things are falling apart. Now whether
the European Union was a good idea or a bad idea in the first place, uh that that aside, but it has led to catastrophe for Europeans because of the way in which it was uh it has been imposed upon the people, the policies that have been imposed on the continent by Brussels and by the United States. Uh so I don't think that his threats are going to bear fruit. Uh but I
do think that uh uh western elites are going to continue to create misery for people across the world. Uh because the the next few months will be probably quite catastrophic if if I think that the chances for war another assault on Iran are high and that will be the straw that breaks the camel's back. will bring about catastrophe for the global economy and probably lead to the collapse of these regimes in
the Persian Gulf that are in the US camp. Um especially if the United States starts targeting Iran's infrastructure, I think they're finished. Uh and then simultaneously, you're going to see the Russians press their advantage in the months ahead. It's going to be the months ahead will be catastrophic. Yeah. Um that's exactly what we now need to talk about. Just like one more side note on the European Union. I was in a
conference in Istanbul just a week ago and we all agree with you. We're just not quite as optimistic with you. I don't think we can um we we will be blessed enough to get rid of the EU within 10 years. I think we we we think it will probably take a little bit more than that. But I hope that uh it's rather your vision that that that will be the case. But
however that is, when it comes to Iran and the the way that this whatever it is right now, a phony Chapter 3: Hormuz, oil flows and the risk of economic catastrophe war or a quiet part of the war, I mean, everybody kind of agrees this is not the end of it. This is this is a maximum kind of a a quiet moment. But there have been news and not just in mainstream
media but also more in the bloggerosphere that actually over the last month um a surprising amount of uh traffic seems to be back in through the straight of thran and and um especially oil exports. Um c what can you tell us about that because the the numbers I have heard is that between 70 to 80% of pre-war oil exports are back online. Is that is that real? Is that fake? Do you
know anything about it? Yeah, that's fake. Uh the amount of oil that goes through depending on the day and it can be from right now between 8 to 10 million barrels a day right now. The other numbers are basically inflated. One or two days it was probably um up to 12. Sometimes it goes down to seven and a half or so. And pre-war level was how much? Well, it depends. I mean,
let's say 15 to 20 million barrels if you include the Red Sea a day. But, uh, Saudi So, right now, uh, the Saudis are being bombed by Yemen. Their oil exports have been affected. And the oil that does go through the straight of hormones does go through mostly with Iranian consent because Iran does not want the straight of hormones close. Iran's friends use oil that comes from the straight of hormones. China
uh countries in the subcontinent ricks nations. Iran doesn't want to create some catastrophe for uh friendly countries. So, it wants to just keep the pressure up a and uh and make things difficult for Trump and his allies and at the same time manageable for Iran's friends. Uh, and we have to keep in mind that the the amount of oil that goes through 15 minuteslargely, not completely, but largely with Iranian consent is
is is very expensive because a lot of the oil goes through these small tankers that uh shuttle from inside the Persian Gulf to uh outside and uh they they take uh oil from super tankers and then transfer it to other super tankers. That's very costly. uh the US attempts to take tankers through is very costly because some of those tankers are struck. Some of those tankers actually go with Iranian consent and
Iran gets something in return. And uh so it's not uh at all the way things are not like what the Americans say they are. And if if so much oil was getting through, the price of oil would not be paper oil would not be above $100 a barrel. And there are two reasons why it's not much higher. One is of course the the fact that there is uh market manipulation but the
second is that uh 16 minutesrefineries uh they're not enough there are not enough refineries uh because of the fact that the the the refineries in the Persian Gulf are not exporting and the second is that the Russian refineries are being attacked. So the demand for oil is less than it normally is because of these facts. So that if if that was not the case, the price of even paper oil would be
significantly higher than what it is now. So and of course it's not just refineries, it's petrochemical plants. the the petrochemicals that were being produced in the Persian Gulf, the the helium, the sulfur, um uh the fertilizer, the fertilizers, the uh also LNG, there are so many things that were coming from the Persian Gulf that are not go that are not leaving anymore. So the the crisis is growing uh uh and the
shortages continue to grow and the price of oil remains high. So, this is not going to um you know, no matter how much Trump tries to convince everyone that all is fine and Western media tries to pretend everything is back to normal, they're not. And Iran has struck a number of tankers during the last, I think, six tankers in the in the last 5 days and probably more tonight will be struck.
So, uh, it's not going the way the Americans want, and I think that we're going to have escalation anyway, either before or after the elections in, uh, Netanyahu's elections or the midterms in the United States. And if that happens, that will end the flow of oil completely. And if the war is actually expanded in a way in which it the United States starts targeting Iran's infrastructure, then all bets are off. Iran
will go after the infrastructure of the countries that have assisted the United States, meaning the Saudis, the Emiratis, the Kuwaitis, the Bahinis, the Kataris, because they are part of this war. And if the Iranians this time around destroy their infrastructure, that means there will be nothing going from the straight to Hormos for a very, very long time. And that will lead to a global economic meltdown. It will lead to a great
depression worse than the 1930s. So, you know, either Trump can escalate and start targeting Iranian infrastructure, which will lead to the destruction of these Arab regimes, or he can escalate and just expand the war, which will lead to war, oil not leaving the Persian Gulf and making the situation worse. Or he can continue with what we have now, and that will just gradually make things worse and worse. So, all roads lead
to hell. There's just this different lines or lanes in this highway and the different speeds to which we the world will descend into this hellish economic situation or he could accept which we don't see 19 minutesany sign of him doing and I mean like one of the hopes would of course be that the whole thing will be that that the Americans at some point will walk away or that it will it
will be wound down. Um at the moment it just doesn't seem like it. How is the the the Chapter 4: The blockade and Iran’s response to a new assault blockade actually affecting Iran at the moment? Because the American strategy now is uh if they cannot be close up in the in the straight of form and control it. They they do this extended kind of blockade and they try to intercept ships on
the way and so on. But the problem that they're running into is that a lot of the ships transporting Iranian oil are actually like of Chinese providence or like under flying under other flags and then you would get into trouble with third countries. And secondly, um the is it is my observation correct that actually Iran's strategy at this point is still to threaten reciprocity. Iran wouldn't strike first, but if struck struck
at it would continue with what it did before, which is like strike at something of equal value and just keep the reciprocity up. Is that still the name of the game for the Iranian side? Um I think that the Iranians have said that we reserve the right. I mean they have said that we reserve the right to uh carry out a first strike if we see that we are under threat. The
Iranians have said that they their responses will be disproportionate from now on and that's what we did see after the US uh tore up the MOU. We saw the Iranian strikes much you know much heavier than US strikes and I think it's going to get worse. Again, if if this war is expanded, then I think Iran will just destroy the the these Persian Gulf countries. They'll just bring an end to them
because they are a part of this war. And so everything that the United States does, they are they bear responsibility. Um right now inflation is high, but if you go to any supermarket or any shop, they're they're they're like normal. They're just like if you go to any city in Japan or in Moscow or in in ba in China. Uh but uh of course wages uh are for many people are low
or I mean they're like workingass or middle class or government employees who uh have to bear the brunt of the inflation and of course the objective is to make ordinary people suffer. I was on a debate by on Pierce Morgan's show and this proTrumpian uh genocidal maniac was saying that yes we have to sort of starve the Iranian people so that they can you know have a some in and then Pierce
Morgan said this uh indigenous this what this authentic revolution something like that and then I said when you starve people how is that revolution authentic so the objective is to starve people to kill people so that they rise up. This is this is the objective and it just shows how barbaric this all is, but they're they're going to fail and uh the Iranians will tolerate the the pain, but they will they
will they're uh determined to to defeat the United States. And I think that probably we will be see heavy fighting in the weeks ahead either before the midterms or right after the midterms. I mean Trump is is is moving in that direction that the troops are the US troops are ready. He just wants to carry out it it out after the midterm so that it will not affect um voting patterns in
the United States. That's why he says after the midterm we'll have this war will end. So he wants everyone so he's very concerned about the midterms otherwise he wouldn't say this but after the midterms the belief is that he will carry out a major assault and that this assault will lead to global economic consequences far more devastating than what we've seen so far. Chapter 5: US military limits and the China argument
What is your assessment of what the remaining capabilities of the United States are? Because what we've seen is that they their abilities are not limitless but and our Chinese colleagues keep reminding us on about that is the United States is still the largest and most powerful military force in the world and um if somebody is not to underestimate them then of course it's Iran. What is what is your assessment how much
how much damage they can still actually do with the with the assets they have in the region and they are they're deploying a new aircraft carrier actually to the region, aren't they? Well, I think I mean they don't have the ability to defeat Iran and now we see the situation in Yemen and Saudi Arabia which is making it far more complicated for the Americans. And then this time around the Iraqi resistance
will be involved probably for the first time in a much different way than before. Iran has been preparing itself for this war is more far more prepared for war than it was 7 months ago. So that the advantage is with Iran and but most importantly the Arab regimes in the Persian Gulf are becoming more vulnerable and I think that this time around the Iranians are not going to pull any punches. I
I think that I think that there if the United States carries out strikes on Iran's infrastructure, I think that that will probably that will bring an end to these regimes. And if that happens and I think the global economy will collapse and I think that US economy will go into depression and after that I don't think war is sustainable in in this means because I don't think Americans will have the money
to continue with this. I mean the world will enter a crisis that will be very painful. You'll have millions of people on the move in Latin America and Africa and they'll moving be moving to the places that they used to go for before they used to used to go before but those places will also be collapsing. I mean what Trump is doing is is he's destroying the global economy but uh either
he's completely compromised or he is living in a bubble um or he he is just uh I mean I don't I don't know how I don't know the language of gamblers but it's like uh like he's rolling the divi the dice or something like whatever they say desperately hoping to to to to have some sort of win. That's uh that I don't I don't see happening. I I don't see him being
able to pull a rabbit out of the hat. All I see is genocide. There is there is one interpretation out there which is gaining a bit of currency or let's say like it's being discussed by people like Brian Balletic but also by Chinese colleagues which is actually that the real target of the Iran war is not so much Iran as China and that comparatively the um the hurt that this uh oil
crunch is causing causes comparatively more hurt on China than on the United States. What do you make out of that argument? No, I don't think the real target is China. I think uh this is all for the sake of Israel. I think the hold that the Zionists have over the United States is much greater than uh than what this uh this interpretation uh presents. Uh this is you know Zionism is a
is a genocidal ideology. It's a supremacist ideology and uh those who are in this camp are very emotional about their supremacist uh ideas and so um they are not thinking rationally. I mean even the false flag operations that we're seeing are are are show this irrational and decadent uh empire collapsing. Everything that the empire does now is poorly managed, but they still won't let go. They they continue to press forward. So,
I think uh of course they would like this to be a uh a step to undermine China, but I think the hatred for Iran is largely because of Iran's opposition to the genocide in Palestine uh more than anything else and Iran's independence. But also it would be good to have control over the oil and and gas in the Persian Gulf region to to to strangle China. That is also a part of
it. But the the the Zionism is is much more important than people estimate. But I don't believe that it hurts China more than the United States. It hurts everyone. The collapsing global economy will collapse the US economy too. I mean, there are oil barons in the United tates that will make their billions, but the consumer is going to suffer the consequences, too. They're they're they're going to face the same sort of
shortages as everyone else is. There's no benefactor among the oil barons in the United States that will come to the rescue of ordinary Americans. It's going to shut down the economy at a time when the US economy is already in very bad shape. Uh I think the Japanese will be forced to uh as things get worse, they will be forced to increasingly sell bonds to to save their own currency. They're uh
the Arab regimes in the Persian Gulf, they just don't have the money anymore to buy bonds, and they're going to be seeking to sell their bonds to sustain themselves. And I'm not sure the Americans are going to let them do that. So I I think that the United States is vulnerable in ways in which China is not. Even though yes, of course, China will be hurt by uh an oil shock or
an energy shock, but uh badly hurt like everyone else. But I don't see the United States as escaping. And then the the price literally for the United States is I mean, how do you even begin to calculate that? across the world. The United States is now despised as be being both a genocidal regime, but also for wrecking the global economy and for threatening countries across the world to be obedient to it.
It takes from Japan its defense capabilities without the consent of the Japanese government. It orders the Koreans to join them to fight Iran and takes away their defense capabilities without their consent. it uh it disregards the needs of regimes in the Persian Gulf and their security because it prioritizes Israel. I mean, this is not going to end well for for the United States in any way or form. No, especially if it
doesn't win. Um the the thing is that what we know about the neoconservative movement in the United tates is as Alex Christopheru says, they don't have a reverse gear. They only double down. Um, what do you make Chapter 6: Yemen, Saudi Arabia and US withdrawal from Iraq out of the argument though um that Leif Maru made on my channel that you know the Saudi uh resumption of the war with Yemen is
actually very much that's the United States that basically ordered them to do that because we have this narrative that you know the Saudis were starting something stupid and then they beg the Americans to help them and the Americans are like ah no we can't. Le Maru says that's all just BS. Uh this was ordered from top down and the Saudis are implementing that because the the Americans need another front. Second question,
um choose which one you want to go for first. The timing of the United States after 20 years to withdraw their or their their to withdraw from Iraq. Uh this is this is this is this is funny. This is a funny timing. It's just a funny timing because for the longest time they said like no, we're not leaving. We're staying here. Whatever you Iraqi parliament is saying um we stay. And now
they're out. Like last week, Sunday the message comes, last soldier left. It's like why? Well, the Iraqi resistance said that they will no longer tolerate the Americans. And as the the Iraqi resistance is is very large. It's a huge force and they are very wellarmed. They're better armed than Yemen for obvious reasons. They're not surrounded. So if they go after the Americans in Iraq, what are the Americans going to do? And
of course, if the war resumes and the Iraqi resistance decides to go into Saudi Arabia or Kuwait, what are the Americans going to do? So is this a rippleon effect actually from the Americans like losing in Iran that now the Iraqi resistance got got uh um motivated to actually start threats against the Americans and the Americans are saying like we cannot hold this position. We got to leave. Well, during the war,
during the 40 days of fighting, the the first part of this war seven months ago, the Iraqi resistance was striking the American targets in Iraq. They were striking the Israeli regime, too. And they were striking the Kurdish groups that were basically proxies of the Israeli regime and the Americans. But the Iraqis were are so far they've been far less active than Yemen. But if this war uh resumes, if the if the
fighting resumes this time around, it's going to be very different. And uh but with regards to Yemen, I think what uh I think both scenarios make sense. Why? Because Muhammad bin Salman and Trump are very similar. The Trump regime is very uh unintelligent, illinformed, ignorant, and arrogant. I mean their meetings where you have Hexath and Trump and Bessant and Kushner and Witoff uh sitting together making decisions. I mean this is like
uh buffoonery. These are the least uh uh intelligent people that you could have to make key decisions in the United States. They started this catastrophic war which has failed. And then if you look at what's happened in Yemen, it's just it was just as foolish. So whether it was Muhammad bin Salman or Trump, it's still the same because Muhammad bin Salman is just a as much a fool as is Trump. He
is surrounded by yesmen. His history does not show any signs of sane decision making or wise decision making. He he kidnapped the Lebanese prime minister, the then Lebanese prime minister, beat him up. He held a major international conference for investors in the uh Ritz and then weeks later he took his extended family there and beat them up and took their money. I mean, imagine what the investors who were in the country
just a few weeks earlier thought about that. He killed Jamal Kajopi in a way in which even we wouldn't see in the Godfather. Um he he he didn't even kill him in a like in in an ordinary way. It was so utterly disgusting. Then he launched that genocidal war against Yemen wasting hundreds of billions of dollars. He failed. Then he imposed a siege on Katar which was his ally in the siege
on Yemen and the genocidal war in Yemen. Thus uh turning Qatar and took Turkey away from them. They were with him before then they turned against him. That failed too. And of course the the the mega projects which were you know stupid and basically for stealing money through commissions and bribes and whatever. Tens of billions at least were spent on them. They none of them bore food. So that sort of leader
it is understandable if he goes and launches a war against Yemen which he did. He had bombed Yemen's international airport, the the capital's international airport. So whether Trump the fool told him to do it or he the fool in Riyad did it as at its own initiative, either way works. Either way makes sense because these are not rational thinkers. Saudi Arabia is already in deep trouble because of its assistance in the
war against Iran. And to add this to to the troubles that it already exists is is a sign of of of sheer foolishness. And for Trump to make him to put Saudi Arabia at risk in this way, I mean, right now Yemen is bombing Saudi oil installations. They've been doing so over the past few weeks. And uh that's obviously not going to be good for the markets. And it may bring how
it may in it may ultimately as things stand if the war with Iran continues it may more easily bring down Saudi Arabia. What we are currently seeing is there just like more and more warfare and and and collect and violence on the Arabian Peninsula, right? I mean things are blowing up left and right and and it's not going well. And we've seen how through during every single round that the US-Israeli coalition
fought against Iran, Iran was able to degrade more and more of the infrastructure of the US-Issraeli coalition on the on the Arabian Peninsula all the way into Yemen and not Yemen, sorry, uh, uh, Jordan actually, and degrade the the bases there, which is part and parcel of the layered defense system, right, of the of the Israelis. I mean, Yemen is is just an a military outpost. Uh um what about Israel though
now that uh these Chapter 7: Israeli elections and Iran’s strategy elections are coming up? Metanyahu doesn't seem to be in a good shape. Um but it doesn't even matter that much because there's nobody else on the political horizon in that in that very insane country that would that would take turn things around. How and it was you it was you when I asked you like uh about a month and a half
ago why Iran is not striking directly at Israel. you told me that uh do not disturb an enemy while they are in internal troubles, right? Um is that is that assessment still the case? Um or where do you see Israel actually heading at the moment also in relation to now the the probably the resuming of the war? Yeah, I don't think Iran wants to strike the regime before the elections unless the
regime strikes first. And if it does, Iran will hit back much harder than it did during the 40 days uh of war uh that we had 7 months ago. I think the Iranians want to see how things play out inside the regime. Uh the tensions there are very high, the hatred and animosity. Iran does not want to give uh Netanyahu the opportunity for a rally around the flag effect um or to
make him look like some sort of victim. Not that his opponents are any less genocidal. We know what the poll numbers are in in in the Israeli regime. And it is quite possible that uh there are elements within the Zionist uh lobby that would like to see Netanyahu lose so that they could bring some one another one of these genocidal preachers to power to whitewash. You know, they'll do interviews with him
with his little cat and say what a nice person he is. He has a cat. And then he may speak about having bought I don't know uh sandwiches from a falafel from an an Arab uh Israeli uh person on the streets or you know they'll they'll do whatever they can to to say that you know the genocide was uh Netanyahu's fault and the next person he's a decent guy. uh there may
be that attempt um you know as well there there may be that uh that uh scenario that plays out but in any case Iran does not want this uh tension that is building up in in Israel to decrease because the tensions are these divisions are good for the region uh many Isra we there's the belief that many Israelis are thinking of leaving the educated among the educated class uh some of them
not because they're anti- genocide for the most part at least but because uh they don't see a future there and because the the uh the the the more extreme elements of the Zionists are intolerant towards them too. So, I don't think right now Iran wants to disturb this uh uh this uh political powder cake. Yes, this powder cake. But uh but we'll have to see. Uh uh but ultimately by weakening the
United States, the the Iranians are weakening the Israeli regime. I know that people like Tucker Carlson believe that the Israelis want the US out of the region and they want the regimes in the Persian Gulf to collapse and that's to their benefit. I think it's the exact opposite. I the Israeli regime has nothing if there is no outside support. The regimes in the Persian Gulf are US proxies. They are US tools.
Their wealth goes to the US bond market and the stock market. Not just the the the the wealth of the state, but also the wealth of the princes. They buy and sell from China, but at the end of the day, all their excess well wealth goes to buy US weapons and into US stocks and bonds, which these countries will probably never see again. And on the other hand, without the United States,
what is the Israeli regime? Without US support, without I mean, US direct indirect support is tens of billions of dollars a year. any Europeans. So, I I don't see it this way. But in any case, u the Iranians uh will continue to push the United States back and uh if the war if the United States restarts the war, the Iranians will hit them back very hard. And I I think that the
regimes in the Persian Gulf will increasingly become fragile. And of course, if there's if the United States does carry out its genocidal threats, then these regimes will collapse. And I think that the world will blame the Israeli regime. Everyone will blame the Israeli regime for the catastrophe because everyone knows that it was Netanyahu and Trump who did this with the uh support of the Zionist lobby and the Israeli regime. Yeah. At
least 75% of the world, the ones not living in uh Europe or North America. But um even there the uh that that kind of um conclusion is getting more and more um uh gaining more and more currency. But let me ask you one Chapter 8: The next round of war: timing, risks and retaliation thing now that the the war which the United States I mean started already last year during the 10
days but then really really flamed up with the with all of the horrible bombing of Tehran uh uh starting on 28th of February uh this year and now we are seven eight months into that. Um, do you think that they're did you did you um notice any kind of any kind of adjustment from the other side? Not in their rhetoric, but in the way that they're implementing um the kinetic and also
the economic side of the war. Because sometimes these wars then create these these kind of reciprocity, not reciprocity, but this this dynamic where one side learns from the other and where you even without talking suddenly create a new status quo, right? What you attack, what you don't attack. Do we did you notice anything what what what is now different from from how it was in the beginning and how these two sides
with through the war communicate with each other? I think the United States is becoming more desperate and that's why it's becoming more ruthless and brutal towards uh women and children and trying to starve ordinary Iranians as as much as possible. We see Bessant uh behaving like Hexa and he's trying to show his masculinity and how brutal and barbaric he is. So uh the United States has uh erased all red line and
we see Trump constantly speaking about annihilating the Iranian people again amidst complete silence in the west which shows that the elites in the west are are are complicit in in in these threats. So, uh, the and I think that desperation is because they know they're going to lose and they just want to find a way to, uh, uh, to draw victory out of the jaws of defeat. And the Iranians are determined
to make sure that does not happen. And Iran is going to mobilize everything that it has and its allies are going to mobilize everything. And I think the next war which is quite pro quite possible and it will be within the next couple of weeks quite possibly again I'm not saying war is inevitable but I think the chances are very high either before or after the midterms I think that that will
be the decisive war it will be the decisive let's say chapter of the war and uh the United States is showing its uh brutality So, I think the chances are that in this war it will be very barbaric and the Iranians will have to retaliate. There's no other way. And so if it plays out this way, I think that before the end of the year, we're going to have a a global
economic depression unless uh Trump is, as they say, tacos uh or refrains from carrying out the sort of assault that he claims to do be pursuing because if he goes after Iranian oil and gas installations or Iran's electrical power plants or Iran's critical infrastructure. Uh then Iran will will do the same in the Persian Gulf. And these regimes in the Persian Gulf are very vulnerable, very vulnerable. They only have oil and
gas. And so everyone will have to leave. You know, these these these tiny c they're not even countries, they're not real countries, but everyone will have to leave. And uh that will mean oil and gas production and everything will be zero and for a very very long time. And I think you you know better than I uh what consequences that will have for the entire world. Yeah. No, I I do hope
it doesn't it doesn't come to that. And I think your your um argument that the United States is getting more desperate is is is not is not wrong at all. I mean, we've seen what they did to Afghanistan right after withdrawing. They plunged it in a in a famine, right? on purpose because of Spike because just like we can and now we want a few hundred thousand people over there dead now
that we are out and we can we can pin it all on you. It's that's just that's just it's just a modus operandi actually of the system that it then tries to you know do collective punishment uh on everybody as far as it can but it is a sign of having failed in the actual military campaigns. Um, say any anything you would like to add at this point that you thought we
didn't touch upon, but especially in the like what's currently going on also in the relationship maybe with China and with with with Russia that you think is important that you're keeping an eye on just in closing? Well, simultaneous to what's going on in our region, the war is intensifying in Ukraine and it will get worse. And that I think will be uh an increased burden for Trump and for his European proxies
or allies or whatever they are called. It's just things are just going to get worse and worse. But it also makes it more difficult for Trump in West Asia. Uh but um uh we have to remember that all of this is because of Iran's independence and because Iran and its allies are opposed to genocide in Palestine. This is all about Palestine. It's all about Gaza. that they want the Israelis to be
uh they don't want to hinder the Israeli regime in finishing off the Palestinian people and the Iranians along with public opinion across the world are outraged and so Iran must be crushed because it uh it believes that Palestinians are human beings and uh and also I'd like again I I've said this on on other occasions I I I I advise people to read more about Iran, book Going to Tan by Flint
and Hill Lab. These are books that need to be read because the propaganda against Iran is going to intensify. Uh resistance by Kalis Kru also another good book. uh greater awareness should be created because I'm sure that uh these false flag operations that we saw, these ridiculous false flag operations that we've seen in the last couple of days, I think there will they will probably be repeated. I'm pretty sure about that.
And uh although I don't believe they will have the results that they want, even if they succeed in killing a couple of hundred people or so in some outrage in Europe and or North America, god forbid, uh I don't think people will be easily fooled. This this is no 9/11. The world has changed. But in any case, uh creating greater awareness about Iran and the people of our region is important in
order to counter the propaganda coming from a western uh legacy media, western think tanks, western regime, affiliated elites and uh and the ruling class. Uh yes, this is very much necessary and I will of course then again put your the links to your um to your account especially your ex account on which you do uh um publish quite a lot and and useful information uh into the description box. The other places
to find you is on the other shows that you go on, right? Yes, I'm uh I've been removed from Instagram and Facebook a long long time ago. Uh, and so yes, I only have X and uh, when I appear on very uh, excellent shows like yours and you are really fighting the good fight when you are on Piers Morgan's show, Morgan show who always pairs you with that Israeli uh, uh, uh,
horror show over there, but you are always holding um, holding out and actually winning over them. So uh, continue doing that and thank you very much for the analysis. Say Muhammad Mandi. Thank you for your time today. Thank you very much for having me.

CIA assessment warns Israel risks civil war, state collapse: Report. Classified analysis cites economic strain, draft crisis, violence by Israeli occupiers and Netanyahu’s fight to stay in power
Tarek Chouiref

Update: 06 October 2026

A classified CIA assessment has warned that deepening political, economic and social fractures could put Israel at risk of civil war or state collapse, according to a report published Monday.
The assessment, titled “Fracture From Within,” was prepared in August by the CIA’s Red Cell, a unit tasked with challenging prevailing intelligence assumptions, Drop Site News reported, citing two US sources familiar with its contents.
The CIA did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.
The assessment points to a volatile mix of pressures ahead of Israel’s Oct. 27 election, including economic strain, rising military spending, anger over exemptions from compulsory military service for ultra-Orthodox Jews and escalating violence by Israeli occupiers in the occupied West Bank.
It also identifies Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s fight to remain in power as a source of further political and constitutional tension.
Years of war in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran have deepened existing divisions, according to the report, as soldiers return from prolonged combat, many suffering serious psychological trauma.
The military draft dispute has emerged as one of Israel’s sharpest internal fault lines, with resentment growing over exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men following repeated reserve mobilizations.
The assessment also points to Israel’s growing international isolation, including eroding support in the US, as another factor that could deepen internal instability.

Reason2Resist with Dimitri Lascaris
Oct 7, 2026
Around the world, a great deal has been said and written in recent months about the realities of war in the Strait of Hormuz, but rarely do reporters speak to captains of commercial vessels who have a lifetime of experience in the industry.
In this episode, Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Colin Smith, a retired Master (Captain) who spent 42 years in international shipping, Colin has a Master’s Degree in International shipping and has also served as a government inspector, accident investigator, and Assistant Harbour Master for the Port of Vancouver.
In several key respects, Colin's views about what is happening in the Strait of Hormuz depart dramatically from the 'mainstream' discourse.

Pakistani jets strike Yemen as Turkiye deploys hundreds of troops to support Saudi war: Report. Turkish media reports that Syrian army fighters have also been deployed to back Saudi Arabia’s proxies inside Yemen
by News Desk
The Cradle
OCT 8, 202
https://thecradle.co/articles-id/40402
Pakistani fighter jets have been attacking Ansarallah-led Yemeni army forces following the activation this week of a defense pact between Riyadh, Islamabad, and Ankara, reports on 7 and 8 October said.
“Pakistan Air Force fighter jets were being used in strikes” this week against the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF), a senior Pakistani military official told the New York Times (NYT) on Wednesday.
Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry told CNN that Islamabad's forces are in the kingdom. “The forces of Pakistan are already there. That I can share with you,” he said.
At least 8,000 Pakistani troops have been deployed to Saudi Arabia this year as part of the defense pact, as well as fighter jets, Reuters reporting from earlier this year had already confirmed.
The New Arab cited experts as saying this week that “Pakistan could concentrate on territorial defense and military support inside Saudi Arabia, while Turkey provides capabilities including surveillance, air defense and drones.”
According to the Turkiye Gazetesi, more than 200 military personnel, along with significant quantities of Turkish electronic warfare systems and ground- and air-defense missiles, have been transferred to Saudi Arabia since the Mecca pact was formed.
The Turkish report also says hundreds of Syrian army fighters have been deployed to the Saudi-backed side in Yemen.
Meanwhile, it claims the “Shia front has become active,” and that fighters from Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran have been entering Yemen to join the Ansarallah-led side.
The report coincides with a heavy Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) retaliatory campaign of missile and drone strikes against Saudi Arabia’s military and energy sites.
Aramco infrastructure, including refineries and storage sites, as well as military bases and sites inside the kingdom that are used to attack Yemen, have been repeatedly targeted in recent days.

According to Turkiye Gazetesi, more than 200 military personnel, along with significant quantities of Turkish electronic warfare systems and ground- and air-defense missiles, have been transferred to Saudi Arabia since the Mecca pact has been formed. Turkish defense systems are being used extensively to cut off the logistical links of Ansarallah and enhance the Saudi-backed Yemeni army's combat capabilities. Meanwhile, Turkish defense brands are also playing a major role in establishing the ground and air shield that will protect Saudi Arabia’s holy sites and strategically important facilities.
The newspaper also reports that militants had been transferred from Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon for months, with the number increasing noticeably over the past two weeks. Some militants were also found to have been transported to Yemen from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, and several African countries.
More than 400 former soldiers from the Syrian army, including generals and colonels, have reportedly been deployed to the Sanaa and Taiz fronts.
Meanwhile, Pakistan reportedly sent four aircraft carrying weapons to Saudi Arabia last week, while around 8,000 Pakistani soldiers are said to be stationed in the Kingdom.

BREAKING: A Saudia Airlines Airbus A310-200 has been destroyed at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh following a reported Houthi missile strike, with images and videos showing the aircraft engulfed in flames.
Ansarallah says it launched two cruise missiles at Riyadh airport, along with ballistic missiles targeting Abha Airport and the Khamis Mushait airbase.
The Houthis claim all three targets were struck, causing damage across the airports and airbase while disrupting air traffic at both Riyadh and Abha.
The reported attack marks another major escalation in Ansarallah’s campaign against Saudi Arabia, extending missile strikes to key civilian aviation infrastructure.

BREAKING: Trump announces he cancels his planned pre-election attack on Iran, saying the US "will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections to be held in the United States on November 3rd," and claims that "we are having productive discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran," on Truth Social minutes ago.
The White House instructed the US military yesterday to conclude preparations for resuming major combat operations in Iran, including against its energy facilities, infrastructure and nuclear sites, with US and Israeli sources saying it could happen before the midterms.

We are having productive discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran. I want to make it clear to everybody that, while Iran is in very bad condition, both Economically and Militarily, and while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, with Oil flowing in Record Numbers of Barrels through the Hormuz Strait (22 Million Barrels, last night alone, with not one barrel coming from, or going to, Iran!), we will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections to be held in the United States on November 3rd. IRAN WILL NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON! President DONALD J. TRUMP
